June has been a funny month with the weather, rain, thunderstorms and warmth. Always interesting to have a quick look at the weather summary on the Met Office website we can quite quickly forget the weather.

My memory will always be the big contrast from East to West, that I could see from the garden - big thick cloud to the west, and brighter to the East.

Work and adventure was a little interchangeable over the month. Fortunately looking out over GB & NI gave the opportunity for some new miles on Wandrer some nice new miles on PRoWs, and not a bad spread E-W across the middle of the British Isles.

I've been working on getting my knee rehabbed, so running is still at a low ebb this year, but the bike, and hiking have been my saviour for adventure.

I love adventures on wheels, and, after a bit of encouragement it's been great having "big black" back on the road.

Over the 18 years I've owned her, I've had some wonderful ditch sleeping, solo adventures in Spain and into Morocco, as well as trips exploring inside the UK. Many regular readers will know that one missed stamp on a vehicle passport means that my border experience in Maroc is a little more extended than most other visitors!

As the last post was about changing gears (motorbike pun) in my relationship with digital media - a quick update on that.

Finally, the dream "dumbphone" has been found - totally dumb, but actually still good enough to run a 4G hotspot for the laptop.

I've got the Olympus back out with a view to make sure that my adventures have a camera.

Paper maps replace the always available Outdoor Active. And, a paperback* replaces scrolling on-line.

Have I noticed a difference? I genuinely do - I control my time engaged on digital media slightly better, in a more mindful way and in spite of quite a few big stresses at the moment, I'm finding time and connection in people, nature and journeys (physical and personal).

June stats - 55mins average daily moving time

Looking forwards to July no-mad activities - race/event controls, some private guiding and one first aid course. I should be able to bump that average daily time up - fingers crossed.

*My book choice is one of learning more about how I feel in this space. Dr Gabor Maté has an interesting view on things that resonates with me. I saw an interview where he makes a big statement "We live in a world where if Mo Salah scores a goal everyone knows, but where 100 children are suffering in the world, the world is silent". We live in a time where fake is rewarded over authenticity.

At the beginning of this journey, I was "thinking" about whether this was of value, and now I am better "feeling" about the value of this decision.
