Journeys and skills for people to places.
At the inception, no-mad was a pure non- competitive trail running company. And that is still very much at the core of no-mad's identity. Along the way taking people into the hills, fast and slow, learning skills, preparing for new routes has led to the evolution to no-mad being a broader provider.
no-mad is now a Mountain Training provider, a National Navigation Awards Scheme provider, we provide event first aid to a number of races throughout wild places, as well as guide people in those places we love.
no-mad is led by Ash, with over 3 decades of experience taking various types of journey, Ash is an Associate Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation, A full member of the Mountain Training and qualified First Aider. With a background in offshore sailing and having run the National White Water Centre near Bala, combined with adventures on foot, bike on the water and at events (e.g. Marathon des Sables (251km self suported in the Sahara)), you could say Ash has a passion for outdoor sports!
Ash has run , cycle and and paddled the mountains around Dolgellau for the last 20 years.
We bring a wide range of leaders and instructors into no-mad to provide certain events or courses. These are always people that we know and trust, so we're more than happy to send you a biography of who they are before you sign up with us! Have a look here at some of the faces of no-mad
no-mad carries full insurance, and a lot of experience that we share as much as possible.
Home is based looking at Mynydd Moel and Cadair Idris (the timelapse video behind this box), so watching cloud tumble over the mountain gives a great insight into the mountain weather that day!
